Sakis Moustakidis: The second red card in my entire career
Coach of Ethnikos Alexandroupolis received a red card in the match against Aris for the League Cup
It is the second red card he received in his career. The first was 28 years ago when he was playing for...Aris at a match against Naupigeia at Thessaloniki!
Moustakidis is troubled by the refereing performance of Georgiadi, Simidi. The controversial desicion happened at 8-8 of the tai break. Ethnikos was on the service, Aris received and attacked with Papadimitriou. Players of Ethnikos made a block and as Moustakidis says «The ball had no speak and you could see clearly that it ended in Aris side of the pitch. Even the Aris supporters dissapointed by Georgiadis sayed it was out. I protested but my protest was not something that would trigger a red card. But even if it was such the referees must consider the mistakes that brought me to this points. I Understand the pressure they might have but its normal giving red card at 8-8. For the referee the card is nothing. For the team that kind of decision is disastrous. The score should be 9-8 in favor of my team, instead it turned 10-8 for Aris. I am asking from the referees to be more cautious and understand the pressure of athletes and coaches. I do not ask not to apply the rules of the game and loose the control but red card at 8-8 for a just protest is something that you dont give».
Moustakidis also remembered the card he received 28 years ago: «I am at Volleyball since 1976 and this was the second red card in my career. The first was in the match Aris - Naupigeia. I was a player for Aris and in the 4th set i asked the referee Touli what kind of decisions he takes. He answered me «come to referee the match», and i replyed «come down then for me to come up» and i received yellow-red card and i was expelled from the set. Fortunately we won 3-1 sets.
For his team he said: «We didn't entered the game as we should but when we did we dominated the game. At the 5th set we had bad temper and tiredeness. We would want to go the the Final 4 of the League Cup. The previous season it was a nice event, but, our main goal is the championship and we must be ready for it.
