During the Run Greece race, Ethnikos Alexandroupolis completed another step of exostrefia. More specifically, it signed a memorandum of cooperation with the school of sports of Haskovo , accomplishing the promise the two sides had given during the visit of Ethnikos .
In Bulgaria, sports schools are the basis of competitive athletics, with massive participation of the best athletes. The Bulgarian group, which arrived last Saturday in the capital of Evros, received the stuff of Run Greece from the Prefecture and then went to the historical office of MGS Ethnikos.
The President of Ethnikos, Manolis Voukoureslis, toured them around the showroom of the Club’s awards and he signed with the Director of the sports school of Haskovo, Gkentso Genef, the memorandum of cooperation.
This document was prepared a long time ago, by both sides and under the guidance of the Physical Education Professor and Special Advisor of Ethnikos, Dimitris Gargalianos. It’s worth noticing that the memorandum opens possibilities of cooperation between the two sides on many levels.
Ethnikos took the Bulgarian mission to dinner, along with the SEGAS (athletic federation) mission (John Mamouzelos, Savvas Nikolaides, Christos Chrisostomides and Aggelos Soultanis ), who were in town for the Run Greece race. On the table was called the Minister of Foreign Deputy , Kyriakos Gerontopoulos , while the Mayor Evangelos Lampakis and the President of TI.E,DA Triantafyllos Arvanitides also attended.
The sports school of Haskovo (including 10 sports groups, six common with Ethnikos), is part of the athletic team of Bulgaria. Its first appearance in our town was concluded with the participation in the Run Greece race with about 10 athletes. The result of this participation was that the 15-year old Iordana Stoknova won the third place in the 10,000 meters race, while Elena Naintelova, coach and old champion in 400-800m in Bulgaria, came fourth in the 5000 meters. It’s worth mentioning that the award of 10 km was given by Gkentso Gkenef.
We hope that this cooperation will have a long continuance in the form of visit exchange by both towns
